The equipment used to manufacture a product can pose a significant risk to the safety and stability of the product. Containers or production plants that are not properly disinfected may falsify the product or allow microbial growth.

These are the standards for the maintenance of equipment for the production of cosmetics:

• The equipment and utensils used in the manufacture of the product are designed and materials in such a way as to prevent corrosion, and adulteration caused by lubricants, dirt, or disinfectants.
• After cleaning and disinfecting, all utensils are stored and covered to protect them from contamination.
• All utensils, transfer lines, and contact surfaces are well maintained and are cleaned and disinfected at appropriate intervals.
